Dian’s Study-Reading-Memorizing Ideas

What will you do while you are studying? Or let’s say you are trying to get new information?.  One of the possible ways to gain information is reading. Reading literature is one way to get the knowledge from books, journal, articles etc. The challenges in reading are in understanding the subject also in memorizing the information in details. So what will you do to overcome the reading challenges?

This is what I will do ^^,

      1. If I read: just to know the news or just to know the information

Reading just to know the information can be done by just previewing, skimming and scanning. These will enable me just to grab the information in general and off course not to memorizing any of it.

2.When my reading is to know and understand

Reading to have the knowledge and understand the matter need a careful look on the text we are reading at. Therefore it took more time than previewing, skimming and scanning. While doing the scanning when we reach up the topics that we want to have more understanding we should use ‘careful’ reading technique. The technique is by read the reading material per word. Try to understand the writer on each word. In the end of the reading Insha Alloh we will have better understanding when we finish the reading.

      

      3. Reading: to know, understand and memorize the matter

Reading this type take more effort than the previous two reading techniques. You will need a paper to note down the essential things and also highlight pen. While doing scanning reading you have to stop at your preferable information line. After that read it carefully. During the time also you have to make your own mind map for the subject. After finish reading you will have the mind map for the subject. To memorize it, look at the mind map and recall the information behind the key words or the symbols that you have put on your map. This will take sometimes also you need to repeat in recalling your memories from the mind map.
